About Karen
My road to becoming a Spiritual Director took about eight years. I noticed that God continuously places me in people’s lives; listening and creating a space for them to processing the ups and downs of life and helping them notice God. I also noticed that I was drawn to practicing the Spiritual Disciplines and reading about Spiritual Formation. It was during this segment of my faith journey that I invited God to make radical changes to my heart, and I wanted others to have the same experience. I stood in awe and wondered: maybe I could be a Spiritual Director.
Life provided a few roadblocks as I took care of aging parents and budding teenagers. Yet, through all of this, God continued to foster a love of listening to others, looking for God’s activity in their life, and encouraging them in their healing. Eventually, I attend the School of Spiritual Direction and began my practice.
My education and training include:
Two-year Certificate from Sustainable Faith’s School of Spiritual Direction (2013 - 2015).
Certificate of Training to accompany people through the Ignatian Exercises. (2016 - 2017)
Certificate of Training for Supervision of Spiritual Directors (2017).
Enneagram: Motions of the Soul (2018)
I am a member of ESDA (Evangelical Spiritual Directors Association), SDI (Spiritual Directors International), and Central Indiana Spiritual Directors. Additionally, I participate in monthly peer supervision and receive monthly Spiritual Direction.
